Summary

NOAA’s Office of Coast Survey intends to award a sole‑source purchase order to the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) to develop an AI‑based predictive model of ocean temperature, salinity, and currents using the SCHISM and MLEOF models. The effort combines physics‑based ocean simulations with advanced machine‑learning tools such as MLEOF and a Generative Forecasting Transformer to provide a deployable coastal forecasting capability.
